So we down here in Australia are having summer. Yes, yes, all you people up there in the midst of a cold winter are wishing you were having some warmth.

Well, here in South Australia and in Victoria (Melbourne fyi) we are in the midst of a heatwave, which will probably last a week. Last year we had 14 days of temperatures over 35C (95F).
That's nothing compared to this year. We had 45.5C (114F) today, and it's forecast for over 40C until the weekend or even into next week. Hottest temps in 100yrs.

We're already in a bad drought. The Murray River is drying out, and the lakes at the mouth are dying.

Antarctica's ice shelf is melting.

And some people think that global warming/climate change isn't real?

I have no air-conditioning, and my refrigerator is offline (there go those nice steaks I had frozen in there), because a local transformer blew, and we're only on Phase 1 power (we need phase 3 for the big stuff).

Roll on summer...

whinge whinge I'm going to be a grumpy shit at work tomorrow

Love,
Karen

 you guys have similar weather, so I know you understand

I dunno. I don't mind winter, I know, we don't have it as bad as you lot. But at least you have central heating mostly. If you don't have airconditioning when it's 35C at midnight, you can't sleep, and I'm going to be useless at work today

IF MAN EVOLVED FROM MONKEYS AND APES, WHY DO WE STILL HAVE MONKEYS AND APES?
:iconinthesea:
Heh well i hardly have mine on - i'm trying to be green (read: save money) so it's hardly ever used unless i need a shower or to wash the dishes! :D

yech! i recommend keeping Hobbes cool by sticking him in the tub (no water required) to cool his paw pads. i learned that years ago with ferrets. they can get heat stroke easily. water is okay too if he can tolerate it.

I read that and went WTF!? Then I checked and saw you're on the eastern side of the Atlantic so you don't really have cold ;-)

Anyway, give Hobbes the steaks before they're completely wasted :D
