Royal Adelaide Show today

I accidentally shot this at a slower shutter speed than I intended, but I quite like the high contrast abstract way it turned out :)

This is a really well taken shot Karen. The B&W works well with it as well.

i think i like it a lot more this way. The motion adds a lot and the in-focus area towards the center helps even things out. The contrast is very nice.

thanks :) The contrast definitely works in the B&W

Cool. That could look interesting if it was inverted too I think.

slow shutter is necessarry for shots like this, a fast one would make it look like it was standing still, what fun is that? :)
composition is interesting, i like how the focal point (the center axis of the ride) is off in the left 1/3rd. berry nice!

ooh yeah I know, I was trying to keep it fast though because it was a really bright day. The colour version is really blown out, and there was this kid's head in the lower right corner of the pic lol (cropping to the rescue!)

Blur is something I'm very critical of in my own work. I avoid it assiduously.
But this blur is nice and crisp, and the high contrast means no grainage (another thing I work to avoid).
The composition is outstanding and I can imagine this on a desktop as much as mounted in a gallery or an art show.
I think I could do without the clouds, or they could be larger and have more importance, but I think the effect of the negative space is lessened with them.
But since they're hard to remove, I'll ignore them. ;)
Anyway, this photo has a great sense of motion and even a touch of nostalgia. The thing I remember most about carnival rides is the sky and how quickly it spun in and out of my vision as I was tossed about. =D
All in all, I give this an A. Hehe
But you don't need my approval. ;p

thanks for the great comment Cola. I hate handshake blur, and get very annoyed when a shot I've planned gets ruined by it. So this shot with the motion blur turning out so well was a great surprise. The colour shot looks weird, all overexposed, washed out colours, but it works in B&W.

I've never been one for rides...although I must admit to really enjoying Space Mountain at Disneyland, mainly because my friend and I screamed so much...oh yeah he's a guy too :giggle:
